Rev. Dr. Rick Vance

Director of Operations

The Rev. Dr. Richard (Rick) Vance  became te Director of Operations in 2021.  He joined the General Commission on United Methodist Men as director of the Center for Men’s Ministries in 2016.

Following his 1984 graduation from Wor-Wic Community College, Vance served as a staff radiologic technologist, and in1986, he became a clinical supervisor and taught radiology science at the college.

Following his 1987 graduation from Salisbury (Md.) University (B.S.), he served as the quality assurance/risk management coordinator for radiological science department at Peninsula Regional Trauma Center in Salisbury.

Vance began his trek to the ordained ministry in 1992. Following his graduation from Wesley Theological Seminary (M.Div. 1995), he was ordained elder in the Peninsula-Delaware Annual Conference. He received a Doctor of Ministry degree in Leadership Excellance (2006) and served the conference as a pastor and leader of UMM workshops until his appointment to the commission in 2016.

Since joining the commission, Vance has published resources in leadership, discipleship and gender-based violence prevention. He leads workshops and conferences focusing on leadership, discipleship and men’s ministry.

Rick has been a keynote speaker at events throughout the U.S. and internationally. He is frequently asked to address issues related to “the discernment of spiritual gifts”, “how to reach young people”, and “the work of the Holy Spirit”.

Vance was named a fellow in the John Wesley Society of the United Methodist Men Foundation in 2017. He serves on the Board of Directors for Discipleship Bible Outreach Ministries.
