Relationships Conference at Philmont
The Relationships Division of the Boy Scouts of America is pleased to announce its lineup for 2008. These courses cover a wide variety of subjects dealing with various chartered organizations and administering the Scouting program within those organizations. Scouting brings the top volunteer and professional subject matter experts to facilitate these courses. Courses are open to registered Scouters who are approved by their local council and to those from affiliated chartered organizations with the approval of the course director.

The Cross and Flame Award
The Cross and Flame Award recognizes adult leaders who have given exceptional service in the use and promotion of the Scouting Program for young people, one who has served children and youth through The United Methodist Church. A minimum of five years of service is required.

The Torch Award
The Torch is an emblem of Christian faithfulness. It recognizes the builders of Christian character and service to others. The Torch Award recognizes adult leaders who are members of The United Methodist Church and have given exceptional service in the use and promotion of the Scouting program locally. A minimum of 4 years of service is required.

The Good Samaritan Award
The Good Samaritan Award provides United Methodist churches a means to recognize an individual youth who demonstrates the attributes of the Good Samaritan described in Luke 10:25-37, ministry to others through outreach, humanitarian assistance or advocacy. Recipients must be between the ages of 6 and 30.

The Bishop's Award of Excellence
The Bishop's Award of Excellence is authorized to recognize congregations and units/clubs with the United Methodist Church that extend their ministry to children and youth by creating a faith-based environment for children, youth, their families and their leaders who participate in the following youth-serving agencies: Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., Camp Fire USA and 4-H.

The Silver Torch Award
The Silver Torch Award is to recognize adults who have given faithful service to the United Methodist Church at the regional, national, or international level through Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of the USA, Camp Fire USA, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, 4-H or United Methodist Youth.

The Shepherd Church Charter Recognition
The Shepherd Church Charter Recognition is to annually recognize churches that provide outstanding scouting/youth mentoring ministry to their communities through sponsorship of one or more of the civic youth-serving agencies.
