RALEIGH, N.C. (UMNS) — Stop Hunger Now, a United Methodist Men partner, and its South African business partners expect to package a record 300,000 meals to fight hunger on July 18 to celebrate Nelson Mandela Day.

Old Mutual, a financial services company, will sponsor 73,700 meals with 1,000 employees each volunteering 67 minutes of their work time to package meals. Food retailer Pick ’n Pay will package 114,000 meals throughout its offices in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria and Port Elizabeth.

On July 15, property group Growthpoint will package 55,000 meals. Long-standing Stop Hunger Now supporter First National Bank will also sponsor a packaging event on that day. Clothing retailers Foschini will package an additional 67,000 meals.
