YPSILANTI, Mich.––Four Girl Scouts received God and Church religious awards, Jan. 31, at the Lincoln Community United Methodist Church in Ypsilanti.

The four members of Cadette Troop 41052 in Belleville, Mich., planned the morning worship service and the award ceremony.

When asked what they enjoyed most about the God and Church program, the girls cited their visit to Hope Clinic in Ypsilanti, where they provided food and gift baskets as part of their community service project.

The God and Church Award is offered to young people in grades 6, 7 and 8 by the St. Louis-based Programs of Religious Activities with Youth (PRAY). God and Church is the third of four age-based programs formerly known as the God and Country Awards.

Participants in the God and Church program create either a video or a photo album to share what they have learned on their faith journeys. They work with their pastor or other Christian adult as they study the church's structures and objectives and participate in service projects that help them gain a better understanding of the mission of the church.
